I attended a symposium on the nose on Thursday 31 January 2013.
It was organised by the Société Européenne de Rhinoplastie (Rhinoplasty Society of Europe), which met to review techniques. But in fact, speakers came from around the world.
We worked diligently all day from 8 am to 6 pm. By way of information, it was not a congress for beginners.
To benefit from it, participants needed to have performed rhinoplasties for years, as the standard was very high. You do not learn how to perform a rhinoplasty at this type of congress. In fact, only complex cases were dealt with, not basic rhinoplasty. As an indication, we talked for 2 hours just about the lateral cartilaginous part of the tip of the nose (called the lateral crus). A very interesting discussion which allowed for the acquisition of new ideas for treating difficult cases, as well as the identification of modern trends in this surgery.
