Over the past 10 years, there has been a substantial increase in demand for reconstructive surgery after major weight loss. Bariatric surgery (gastric band, sleeve, bypass) is very effective, and I see many patients for consultations who have lost a lot of weight.

Post-bariatric surgery is a particular type of surgery as there is a lot of skin to remove and many areas to treat (stomach, buttocks, sides, thighs, arms, breasts, thorax, calves, face, etc.)

In this  surgery, we must therefore operate on a combination of areas to avoid the patient requiring multiple operations.

Indication

The purpose of this reconstructive surgery is to readjust the skin covering which has become too large; I remove excess skin and fat, like altering a garment.

Treatment

I therefore try to combine techniques. For example, if I am performing breast surgery, I operate on the arms, which are in the same region, at the same time.

Healing can be tricky because, as the patient has lost weight, they are deficient in vitamins and proteins, but our team is accustomed to managing this type of problem.

In conclusion:

Post-bariatric surgery is a type of surgery that I love to perform as it really is spectacular and gives great satisfaction to patients who feel they have been reborn.

The results:

Case No. 1

Reconstructive surgery after a gastric bypass. To obtain this result, I combine several plastic surgery procedures: upper body lift, lower body lift, vertical abdominoplasty, monsplasty.

Case No. 2

Reconstructive surgery after gastric sleeve surgery. To obtain this result I combine several plastic surgery procedures, lower body lift, vertical abdominoplasty, monsplasty, thighplasty.

Case No. 3

Major weight loss: body lift + thigh lift with vertical scar. 10 kg were surgically removed in 2 operations.
